i cant really talk about it without giving away major plot points. with the major exception of the end i can say this film is great, but psycho is better

this is the horror hounds movie. with alot of references it was probably the inspiration behind scream

although its not for everyone, it is for those who are in to late 70's slashers, even though it was made in the 80's.

it bears a strong resemblance to the slasher Halloween with many scenes and also has a lot of the same problems. the movie has a great opening, and a decent build up to the ending. however the middle is a little better and the ending makes the entire movie feel hollow.

i am also mixed on my feeling on turning the girls into adult and not making the killer wear a mask

only thing i liked was the design of the mask.

it last tension and overall likable actors to make us care when they start to die

defenently a different film from the origional

although i did miss the suprises and the gritty uncaring adult content, tobe hoopers trademark atmosphere and pacing makes you want to continue watching it.
however the ending i think is a complete betrayal of the origional

this is a feels like a short and a movie all made to stretch out to 90 minutes.

1 theirs some great acting in this movie especially tony beckley in his last role
2 the first 20- 22 minutes are perfect

1 the editting is doesnt flow. some shot feel like they have been cut off to early and some shot start random
2 it feel alittle to much like Halloween
3. the middle of the movie is really padded

good: the parts containing the boys psych is done very well and the film itself is clean

bad: everything else this literally feel like 2 different films. christopher lee cameo is only stock footage from another film that was never published, the characters are flat, the dialog is terrible, pacing is slow, and its not a slasher its more of a psychological thriller. not worth your time

this is an example of a slasher with to many problems to really reccommend but has some interesting parts

good: the death scenes are realistic and merciless. the weapon use is probably the first ive seen it used. and the premise is somewhat unique

Bad: the ending is recycled and it is really visually dark. the editing is poor and the characters are bland


this needs a remake badly because it a nice idea executed (probably because of budget) badly
